Dear Sacramento Auto Glass,
I have been a customers of your for a few years, but I recently moved to a much colder climate. In fact, it snows on a regular basis here. This probably sounds like a strange question since you are in California, but do you know how to get a windshield defrosted? I thought you could just pour hot water on it and it would melt, but someone recently told me that I was doing it all wrong. First off, I had no idea there was a wrong way to melt ice. I just want to be able to get all the ice off of my auto glass in a timely manner so I can make it to work on time every day. I would really appreciate any information you may have. And, I totally understand if you do not have any information for me since your employees and customers would not usually have this problem. Thank you so much for all of your help and great service in the past. I hope I am able to find a company out here just as good as you were.
Dear Trusted Customer,
We are sorry to hear that you have moved away from the area, but we are excited for your new life venture. As for the cold weather, it will definitely be a change from the weather out here in California. Having snow and ice around you on a constant basis can be torture for your vehicle. It changes basically everything. One main thing is your auto glass. Cold weather has very different affects than warm weather does. With snow and ice though, there actually is a proper way to melt it without endangering your auto glass too much.
To get rid of the frost on your auto glass just follow these easy steps. First off, you will want to clear all the snow away from the windshield. You can do this with a flexible plastic scooper so that it will not scratch the glass. Once this is done, you should get a bucket of lukewarm water. Make sure that it is not hot because that will cause the glass to crack. This water should easily melt the frost and you can use your windshield wipers to clear it all away. Another great thing you should do is fill your windshield cleaning reservoir with an anti freeze solution. After doing the first few steps, you could spray the solution on the glass so that it will not start to freeze while you are driving. Also, if there is only some light frost and no snow then the anti freeze solution should be enough to get rid of it. You should then just spread it around with your windshield wipers to make sure that you area of vision is always clear.
Hopefully this information has helped you a little bit. It is not hard to defrost your windshield, but you do need to make sure that you are doing it correctly.
